Dropbox Releases Beta Application For Research in Motion's BlackBerry Platform « Specs, Reviews, News and Price Info - MobileWhack.com

Are you using Dropbox? If not you may want to check it out as it has been critically acclaimed as one of the web's latest and greatest hosting platforms to date. What's so great about Dropbox is its ability to sync up with your mobile devices and receive files sent to the service from them. This means if you take a picture with your iPhone, you'll be able to utilize the Dropbox application to quickly upload the photo to the service.

BlackBerry uses, until now, have been left in the dust as there had been no Dropbox application available for Research in Motion's mobile platform. Luckily, it was just announced today that Dropbox has released an extremeley limited beta edition of their mobile application for the BlackBerry platform. Unfortunately, if you aren't already in on the beta you probably won't be as according to reports there were only 500 slots available – all of which have already been filled.

RIM To Launch Blackberry Pad in November

Bloomberg is now reporting that Research in Motion (RIM) will be launching their Blackberry/iPad tablet PC in November.

There have been a lot of previous rumours that the RIM Tablet PC will be called the BlackPad. All of these rumours are because RIM registered the domain name Blackpad.com not too long ago.

Anyways, sourcing are now saying that this iPad competitor from RIM will be launching in November. Of course every tablet PC will be directly compared to the iPad, but with Microsoft about to launch into the same market, it all seems to be getting a little crowded.

There are still little or no details on the Blackberry iPad competitor, but stay tuned because its only a matter of time.

Latest BlackBerry Tablet: Launching in November? BlackPad Blackberry's Tablet

It appears that the rumors surrounding BlackBerry tablet will soon reach a crescendo, thanks to a report which suggests that it could be out as early as November 2010. This report can be sourced to Bloomberg and reveals that Research in Motion, is at an advanced level of development with the BlackPad.

The device is supposed to have a 9.7 screen along with features such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. You may even be able to use your BlackBerry phone as the data connection.

The Latest Blackberry Tablet: BlackPad

While BlackBerry has an official policy of not commenting on rumors, the speculation about this device reached fever pitch when the company acquired the domain blackpad.com. However, it is also true that RIM has more than 4000 registered domains, which means that the device may not be named BlackPad after all.

While the majority of BlackBerry users won't be able to use this, considering the event RIM and AT&T will be hosting this Tuesday, many of you may soon be able to. If this is the OS the 9800 ships with then this might be a pointless leak, unless you're a hybrid builder. I guess we'll find out soon!

The BlackBerry OS 6.0: What to Look Forward to?

Its official now: Research in Motion is soon to release the sixth and latest version of the BlackBerry mobile operating system, which will be called Blackberry 6. And you will surely agree that with the iOS 4 and the Android grabbing most of the headlines recently, this OS will be something to look forward to.

How the OS manages to revamp the BlackBerry and give it some its edge lost to the iPhone 4 is the real matter of interest here. When it is finally here (sometime in this quarter itself) can the head-to-head comparisons materialize but right now there are useful snippets of information about this OS.

Some of the features which will be new in the BlackBerry OS 6:

A redone home screen, which is simple yet appealing. It has two rows containing four applications each and allows the touch feature to swipe from left to right and view the various app categories. The screen has been designed to give you better customization control, something which has not been there on most BlackBerry devices thus far.

Universal search feature will allow you to seek whatevers there in your BlackBerry. So, you can easily locate contacts, emails, music files, pictures and documents simply by typing the name in the search field. The same search feature can also be used to do a web-search.

Blackberry OT?

A nice effort, but probably doomed to fail:

• Like millions of Americans, Chicago Police Sgt. Jeffrey Allen's job had him on an electronic leash of sorts.

  Even when he was off duty, Allen says, he performed work on his department-issued BlackBerry. Now he wants to get paid for the off-duty time he spent on the device.

  Allen has sued the city in federal court, seeking overtime pay for up to two years. His lawsuit, filed earlier this year, seeks OT for similarly situated officers, too.

Emboldened RIM readies new touchscreen BlackBerry

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Research In Motion is not known for its dramatic flair. Like the BlackBerry itself, with its renowned email security, the Canadian smartphone maker seems to put function before form.

But RIM may break with tradition next Tuesday when it raises the curtain on its long-awaited answer to the iPhone at an unusual company "event" in midtown Manhattan.

RIM is not saying why it has asked reporters and analysts to gather at the invitation-only event, which may be the company's attempt to capture some of the frenzy Steve Jobs creates around Apple's product launches.

"I think they are trying to create a little drama," said Michael Gartenberg, partner at research and advisory firm Altimeter Group. "When you raise expectations like that, you really then have to deliver."

Free Huddle Online Collaboration Suite Available in App World | BlackBerry Cool

Huddle is a collaboration tool that looks a little like BaseCamp. It features discussion boards, project management, document sharing, wikis, and conferencing. Huddle have recently announced a free BlackBerry app that gives you access to this collaboration suite with read-only permissions. The only caveat with this application is that Huddle are pretty aggressive with their email notifications and will constantly ask you to invite friends to their service.

The free Huddle app is now available in App World for download.
